Outside of her relationship with Floyd Mayweather, Josie Harris was an actress, entertainer, and author. The late American actor, reality TV star, and model was most famous as the former fiancée of the American boxer. They were teenagers who eventually had three children and even got engaged. However, a particularly bitter incident of abuse in 2010 ended their relationship, and Floyd even went to jail for it! Mayweather rarely speaks about the case and his time in jail, but Harris went on to give interviews to many newspapers sharing her side of the story. She revealed how Mayweather abused her and mentally tortured her leaving bruises on her faces. Josie later recovered from the abuse and even married her lover, J. B. Spades (whose texts caused her to get beaten up)! Josie Harris was on her way to becoming an entrepreneur in addition to becoming an author by writing an autobiographical account of the abuse that she had faced throughout her relationship with Floyd. 2. Found dead while sitting in her car on March 10th:

Floyd Mayweather’s ex-girlfriend and the mother of three of his children, Josie Harris, was found dead. According to TMZ, officers were called to Harris’ home in Valencia, California and they found the 40-year-old woman unresponsive in her car. Around 9:30 pm Josie Harris was pronounced dead at the scene. Per TMZ, there does not appear to be any foul play. The situation is currently being handled as a death investigation and not as a homicide case.  

3. Josie Harris cause of death in 2020: 

The mother of three of Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s children and the boxer’s ex-girlfriend, died from an accidental drug overdose, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner.

The specific cause of death — “mixed drug toxicity” — coming from Fentanyl and Alprarzoam, according to the Medical Examiner-Coroner. Fentanyl is an opioid drug and Alprarzoam is commonly sold under brand names such as Xanax.

Harris was 40 when she was in her car that was parked in the driveway of her Southern California home. The cause of death was not released at the time because law enforcement placed a security hold on the case.

Soon after her death, Floyd shared 11 photos of himself with Josie on ‘Instagram,’ as a tribute to her. He also called her his “rock” and used terms such as “angel,” “heart, “love,” and “sweetheart” to refer to her.

Josie Harris first met renowned American boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. at a Las Vegas bowling alley in 1995. Back then, Josie was 16 and Mayweather was 19. Soon, they began dating. 

5. High school sweethearts:

Harris and Mayweather reportedly dated in school. If you go back to Josie and Mayweather’s dating history then you might know that the couple met back in 1995 when she was just 16 years old and Mayweather was still to set his professional career. 

Harris became pregnant during her sophomore year in college and became pregnant with their first child. Their relationship spanned for 15 years and they shared three children together, Zion Shamaree Mayweather, Koraun Mayweather, and Jiran Mayweather.

During their relationship, the couple had three children, Koraun Mayweather, Jirah Mayweather, and Zion Mayweather. 

While Josie Harris was in her sophomore year in college, she became pregnant with Floyd’s child. She gave birth to their first son, Koraun, on September 2, 1999. 

Their second son, Zion Shamaree, was born on March 28, 2001. The couple eventually got engaged in 2004. Their daughter, Jirah, was born on June 25, 2004.

However, soon, trouble started brewing in their marriage.

7. Domestic violence:

Harris’ relationship with Mayweather was turbulent. She filed a domestic battery report against Mayweather in 2010 and it led to the boxer spending two months in prison in 2012.

In a 2014 interview with USA TODAY Sports, Harris said she suffered physical abuse from the boxer on “six occasions,” the worst coming in September 2010. During that incident, Harris said, Mayweather entered her home as she slept, yanked her to the floor by her hair, then punched and kicked and screamed profanity at her in front of their children.

In an interview with Katie Couric in 2015, Mayweather called Harris a drug abuser. Harris, in turn, sued Mayweather for $20 million for defamation.

Josie and Floyd’s marriage was riddled with issues, and they eventually split in 2010, following a bitter domestic abuse incident. Media reports also claimed that Floyd had cheated on Josie multiple times.

Apparently, in September 2010, Floyd had entered her Las Vegas home with a friend, without Josie’s permission. While she slept, he snatched away her cell phone and read her messages. He had then pulled her by her hair and dragged her across the room “like a rag doll.”

Floyd had then hit her in the head, screaming: “I’ll f**king kill you,” as their kids looked on. Josie had helplessly cried out to her children to call for help, to which Floyd had allegedly yelled at the kids, “Ya’ll bet’ not go nowhere.”

Rumors claimed that since their relationship was already on the rocks by then, Josie Harris was dating basketball player C.J. Watson, who played for ‘Chicago Bulls’ back then.

Josie and Floyd’s eldest son, Koraun, who was 11 at that time, had jumped over the fence and alerted a security guard, who had then called 911. Meanwhile, Floyd escaped in his car.

Josie had suffered severe brain contusions, a sprained left arm, and a probable concussion.

Later, video footage from the scene proved the entire incident. Floyd was sentenced to a 2-month imprisonment. Josie later claimed that she had been abused by Floyd on six different occasions. Nevertheless, Floyd was punished only for the September 2010 incident. Josie had also spoken about the abuse on the reality series ‘Sister Wives Confidential’ in 2014.

Floyd, in an interview with Katie Couric later, denied all charges. Instead, he accused Josie of being a drug addict. He also claimed that whatever he had done had been an act of self-defense.

Later, as an aftermath of the interview, Josie Harris sued Floyd for over $20 million for defamation. The case was still ongoing when Josie died in 2020.

8. Controversy regarding the “domestic violence”: 

Harris and Mayweather had an often tumultuous relationship that was marred by domestic violence allegations. In 2010, Harris claimed that Mayweather attacked her in front of their children. The boxer ended up serving two months in jail as a result of the altercation. The two were also tangled in a custody battle as well as a multi-million dollar defamation lawsuit Harris filed against the boxer for claiming that her abuse accusations were false.

It dealt with women who had relationships with men before they became famous and wealthy. It was later canceled because it received low ratings.

Josie Harris launched her career in the entertainment world with the 2006 horror film ‘Exit 38.’ She also appeared in the ‘TLC’ reality series ‘Starter Wives Confidential’ in 2013, along with the former girlfriend of basketball player Lamar Odom, Liza Morales, and the ex-wife of rapper-actor Earl “DMX” Simmons, Tashera Simmons.
